Home Centered
No other success can compensate for failure in the home.
(David O. McKay)
We believe that family relationships can continue beyond this life and that we will be with loved ones who have passed. From this belief core belief we try to put our "best efforts" towards family relationships and giving our children the testimony and tools they need to succeed in life and beyond.
We work to raise children that we want to be with for the eternities and to become the parents that they want to be with as well.
Family Study
Each year we focus on a standard work: Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon & Doctrine & Covenants. The Come Follow Me study guide includes a topic for each week of the year with helps for teaching children of all ages.
Family Scripture Study
Learn (and teach children) the power that comes from God's word. Regular scripture study puts us firmly on God's path and opens our eyes to recognize God's hand in our lives.
Schedule regular time for personal and family scripture study. It's often best to study by topic. For example, what do the scriptures teach about faith? What stories from the scriptures will be most meaningful to my children?
Individual & Family Prayer
Prayer connects us to God. And praying as a family connects us to God together.
"In remembering together before the Lord the poor, the needy, and the oppressed, there is developed, unconsciously but realistically, a love for others above self, a respect for others, a desire to serve the needs of others. One cannot ask God to help a neighbor in distress without feeling motivated to do something oneself toward helping that neighbor. What miracles would happen in the lives of the children of the world if they would lay aside their own selfishness and lose themselves in the service of others. The seed from which this sheltering and fruitful tree may grow is best planted and nurtured in the daily supplications of the family."
(Gordon B. Hinckley)
