Good morning brothers and sisters my name is Nixon Bergener, and today I was asked to give a talk on how I’ve seen the Lords hand in my life throughout this year. As I pondered this question no great miracle came to mind. I did not know what to do or where to start. Monday morning last week me and my family were going out of town and I had the option to go to seminary or sleep in but I decided to go. The lesson that day was not as planned but changed due to a prompting my teacher received and was on how the lord works through small and simple things. This was something I knew right away that the lord had planed for me to be there in order to help prepare for this talk.
In Alma 37:6 it says “but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass”.
There are many small and simple things that we overlook in our daily lives when we recognize these things the lord does for us it will strengthened our testimony and build a greater foundation that will not be susceptible to the temptations Satan sends, constantly trying to lead us off the path of righteousness.
Another way I’ve seen the lords hand in my life is through opportunity. For example having the chance to give a talk, at first I did not want to do it and I could have said no, but I thought about it and realized how much I can learn and teach of what I know to be true. When we find opportunities that the lord has provided, we will not only blessing ourselves but people around us.
Just like how small and simple things can strengthen us they also over time can negatively impact our testimony’s without us fully realizing the effect it can have in the future, that is why we need to be careful of our thoughts and actions even though they might seem like they are not a big deal in the moment but over time it can lead to greater consequences.
Now as I looked back throughout this year I can see the small and simple things that have gradually effected my life positively and strengthened my testimony.
I’d like to bare my testimony that I know Heavenly Father watches over us and manifests himself in our everyday life. When we recognize his actions it will strengthen our testimony’s and give us a better understanding of gospel. I also know that as we seek out opportunities that are provided by the lord we will be blessed. In the name of Jesus Christ amen.
