Talk given by Oliver R. in church meeting of Pleasant View Ward in Huntington Beach, CA., 2/19/23
Hi, my name is Oliver and yesterday I got baptized. At first, I was scared because I knew it was a big promise I would be making with Heavenly Father and I was worried that I would break that promise. My mom talked to me and I felt a little bit better, but I was still scared.
I was nervous when I went into the font. When I got baptized I felt warm inside and I wasn’t scared anymore. I learned from the talks and from Bishop Blake that I shouldn’t worry about breaking my promise because Heavenly Father gave us His son, Jesus Christ, who understands us perfectly and died for us so that we can be forgiven and live with Him again. He also gave us the Holy Ghost to help us make good choices and to feel comforted. If we make a bad choice, the Holy Ghost will go away for a little bit, but when we repent he will come straight back.
I was so happy to see my friends in the front row when I was being baptized. I am grateful that they came and that they were baptized too. I know that we can help each other keep our promise with Heavenly Father.
