Elder Ritter - 1/22/2024

Hola a todos!

Another week come and gone. This one felt so quick for some reason, but it was a lot of fun. Some highlights:

• we had lunch appointments almost every day this week! It was so much fun, especially hanging out with all these fun members, laughing, joking, telling stories, and always trying to teach them a little bit of English, while they and try and teach me some random phrases. I love how much diversity there is here in Spain! This week we got to eat with an Uruguayan family, an Ecuadorian family, an older Chilean woman and her son, and a Paraguayan family. I'm so blessed to be in Spain where there are so many different people and I get to learn about all different kinds of Spanish-speaking countries, not just Spain (even though Spain is incredibly cool in its own regard).

• Alben, our Venezuelan friend, is back on date! He's a little confused why it needs to be our church, but he still really wants to get baptized, so we're going to work with him towards that. He SHOULD be baptized on the 3rd of February, so please keep him in your prayers so that he can be baptized.

• Met a lovely woman from Cordoba on the bus, taught her the entire first lesson and gave her a Book of Mormon. She was super interested and wanted to read it really badly. It was an absolute miracle in a day full of miracles. We got her number and once we find out if she's actually interested, we'll pass her off to the Cordoba elders.

It was a really fun week and I'm excited for next week! We have a trip up to Madrid for my residency (which means I'm ending my mission soon, ahh!) and more things planned, so stay posted!

To close out, I would like to talk a little about the Spirit. We taught a couple of lessons about it this week, about what the Spirit actually does and it's role in our lives. I used to think that the Spirit would just give me happy feels anytime I saw something good or did something good, which does happen! But the Spirit is so much more than a warm feeling. More than anything it imparts information to us, information that we can use to guide ourselves. Reading through scriptures about the Holy Ghost, it only talks about how He can lead us, teach us, guide us, tell us. When I feel those peaceful feelings, it means to me that the Holy Ghost is trying to tell me something important, something worthwhile. I look for what He's testifying about, what eternal truth He is trying to confirm to me, and when I do, I'm able to recognize His influence in my life. For example, I can read a touching story about a mother sacrificing her time, money, and energy for her children. I may be filled with good, happy feelings, I may even cry! Those good feelings are coming from the Spirit, but what are they testifying of? They are NOT testifying of the reality of the story, or that it is a perfect historical account. Instead it testifies to me of the value of sacrifice, of the importance of parental love. This is the information it imparts to me. And I can recognize that feeling and be ready for when it comes the next time, so that I can be ready for even deeper eternal truths to be confirmed to me through the Spirit.

Anyways, enough of me rambling. Gone you all have a great week! Love you loads! Send me updates if you can, we're very isolated out here...

¡Cristo vive! ¡El Libro de Mormón es verdadero!

¡Os amo!
