Charlotte Jepsen

My name is Charlotte Jepsen and I was asked today to talk on D&C 109:15 which says, “And that they may grow up in thee, and receive a fulness of the Holy Ghost, and be organized according to thy laws, and be prepared to obtain every needful thing;” From this scripture, I want to talk about how I feel the fullness of the holy ghost. I will give 3 aspects of how the holy ghost helps us. The first way that the holy ghost speaks to me is by giving me promptings, or thoughts in my head just like he did to the brother of Jared. Brother of Jared and his family were leaving Jerusalem and made it to the Atlantic Ocean and needed to build a barge to cross in for months. Jesus showed the brother of Jared how to build the barge, but He didn’t tell him how to have light. He wanted the brother of Jared to think of a way and bring the idea back to Jesus for confirmation. The Holy ghost helped the brother of Jared with thought and ideas and promptings for how to have Jesus touch some stones that would glow during their sea voyage. The brother of Jared had never come up with that idea before and the Holy Ghost helped him to find a way. The second way I receive the fullness of the HG is when the holy ghost comforts me. Joseph Smith and his friends were in liberty jail for months and needed the holy ghost to comfort them. Doctrine and Covenants, “After months of being in prison Joseph Smith asked Oh God, Where art thou?” And he felt too far removed from God and so alone in his troubles. And that heavenly father did not care about their problems. And Heavenly Father responded by telling him to have peace, and be comforted. In Isaiah 54, verse 10 says “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills are removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed.” This means that Heavenly Father is trying to tell us that it is unlikely that mountains will move, but it is more unlikely that Heavenly Father will leave us alone. Finally, I receive the fullness of the holy ghost when the holy ghost confirms that things are true. One example is in Moroni's promise at the end of the book of Mormon he says, “And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.” As I read the scriptures I feel Moroni's promise that I will have truth confirmed when I listen to the holy ghost and I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true and I know that we have a living prophet today that receives revelation from God

and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
